Discerning Christ and Antichrist

After preparing us for battle, John shows us how to have victory over the world, our first enemy.  Now he’s ready for us to face our second enemy, the devil.  The devil’s primary work is to attack God’s Word.  John uses three verses to deal with the world (2:15-17) but ten verses to deal with the devil and his false teaching (2:18-28).  Sadly, most church attenders today don’t even know what their church teaches, nor do they have the discernment to know the truth from a lie.  John wants you to be on guard against these false doctrines and those who promote them.
