We have a tendency to behave the way we view ourselves. If we view ourselves as a washed up, good for nothing sinner, we will likely behave that way. If we learn to start viewing ourselves the way God does, our behaviors will also begin to change. Your behavior reflects what you believe about yourself and about God. The truths of 1 John 3:7-10 are key to living a life that progressively defeats sin and draws closer to God. First John is a book about fellowship, deep intimacy with God. It talks about the barriers to that kind of life, the barriers which keep us chained to the earth and keep us from flying as God has designed us to fly. John wants to remove those barriers. He wants us to live as God has created us to live, to live according to our new birth.
